Good morning Dijonstock friends. This morning at 12:10am my father passed away after a series of illnesses. He was 85 years young. I was very fortunate to have him these many years.

Ron, my condolences.

85 is a blessed age, but it is a sad milestone nevertheless.

Ron,

Sorry to hear that. Same age my dad passed on. I consider 85 to be a full life and hope I make it that long. Hope everything goes smoothly with the services.

Very sorry to hear ...Thoughts are with you, Ron... as with the previous posters, my father is currently 85 years old too. He is battling cancer and will find out the results of a recent bone scan this afternoon.

I too am sorry for your loss. And yes, my dad is 85 as well. It seems that 1929 was a busy year for the midwives...

Thinking of you Ron. It is a shock when your parent passes, at any age. Perhaps you will connect with some people you haven't seen in a while, as often happens at memorial celebrations. Some may have stories to tell of your father and his years.

Sorry to hear this Ron. It's a toughie to see your dad becoming less imposing with age as you yourself go from strength to strength. It sounds as though he lived a fruitful life though. Good to see you sharing his memory here.

Thanks all. It's been an insane few weeks. The funeral was yesterday. Now we spend the week at my moms greeting folks stopping by to give their condolences. Once this week is done, we get back to living. Mom living alone is going to be the challenge. Time will tell.

Ron,

Please accept my condolences.

My mother is 85 and this weekend I moved her from the rehab center, where she has convalesced the past two months from a broken hip, to an assisted living apartment in a retirement community. She wants to go home, but her cognitive function has suffered so since the accident that I do not realistically expect her to return to her house. It is hard to see her decline. My father died in 1976 from a massive heart attack, so he was simply taken from us, but before he suffered any great diminution of his physical or mental capabilities.

Your mother will need your family's support more, but women seem to be blessed with greater strength to handle this personal loss; much better than the average elderly man. You need to rest yourself now and continue to take care of your own loved ones.

Randy
