Even though my kids are 25 and 21 years old, we all enjoy the New York City Children's Film Festival. We watched (from home(s), of course) one of the offerings last night - a film from the Netherlands called "Jackie and Oopjen." We all quite enjoyed the light-hearted film, but were especially taken with the comedy skills of the actress who played Oopjen. Her name is Sarah Bannier.

So a question for Robbie (and any others lurking from the Netherlands), is she well known there? Ever even heard of her?

Hi John, I never heard of her so I looked her up in the dutch Wikipedia. She played in a few dutch series that I do know, but I hardly watch them. So, to me at least, new name, new face. Was it an english spoken production or was it dutch with subtitles?

It's a start :-)

Ok here's lesson nr 1

I am - ik ben
You are - jij bent
He is - hij is
We are - wij zijn
You are - jullie zijn
They are - zij zijn

easy :-)

Thanks Robbie. 8)

I personally don't have high hopes for 2022, but I hope I am wrong on that. :)

My take on things: In 2020 we were rocked with Covid. I remember that night in March when some friends asked us to meet them out for dinner. I really didn't want to go, but we did. Very luckily we were fine. The next day the world shut down. I recall being at home day in and day out (not much different than my normal life lol), as did the majority of people across the globe. Work stopped, production stopped, people didn't buy anything but toilet paper. Those of us who made it to 2021 hoped for a better year. I knew it couldn't be, because even with things becoming more normal, nothing had been done for close to 9 months. So, 2021 was a rebuild year while still fighting Covid. Now it's 2022. Production has been moving along albeit a slower pace. In the meantime, home prices are at an all time high, used cars are traded in at crazy high prices, while 1000's of vehicles await a stupid computer chip. But, in short order, I believe things will slowly get back in place and with more product comes lower prices. Supply and demand. Will 2022 be perfect? Uh, not. Will it be better? It is my belief that it will.

And that, is my report for today . . . This is RZ signing out until next time. Peace!

A very serious, in-depth report, with not a mention of the implications upon global cheese markets.

Thank you for the economic forecast, Ron. 8)

My ominous comment was really about my increasing pessimism regarding the Great American Experiment rather than my expected personal fortunes in 2022.

On a completely different note, I see the Dutch have temporarily retired the Royal Carriage.

We should do something about that :-)

Is that really news in the US? That's quite impressive.

Personally I think 2022 will be the year of truth, covid-wise. Omikron is lots and lots more contageous, but far less harmful. Number of infections go through the roof here, but hospitalisation still decreases. So, this probably will be the version we'll have to accept. Or there will come an even more contageous version that is even less harmful which, although being a quite different kind of virus compared to the flu, will be considered just that, with minimum damage to ones health. Covid will never fully go away.

I'm listening to the 2005 Comp CD at the moment. And enjoying it a lot.

I also learned about some pretty cool popup barber shops and exercise classes you guys had on Wednesday.

Oh, and how we Americans would do well to embrace uitwaaien and look to Wim Hof for inspiration. 8)

Oh, and I almost forgot about the story of the 80 meter long superyacht that was towed from the shipyard in Oss to Harlingen. There were some pretty amazing photos of that beast barely squeezing under a bridge. :)

I always thought the Dutch knew more about the States than the other way around... massive error in judgement

That superyacht was amazing. They obviously didn't take my calculus classes... :-P

Is there a link to video of the occurrence of which you speak?

Thanks. That was very interesting.

Robbie's yacht is not quite as long as that one.

Here comes another one.

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-60241145

Looks like this bridge is spitting distance from where the Big Cheese and I boarded our boat for a river tour around Rotterdam some 9 1/2 years ago. I just looked at my photos and have several of that very bridge. 8)
