dinner menu as follows
Lasagne al forno with sliced picallo tomato, mozzarella and herb salad
follow by Panna Cotta
i like drinking the vino but when it comes to chooseing one for a dinner i am a little in the hell it tastes good lets drink it ,how ever went shopping and came back with these three what do you think:

which one should i choose or should i get a Sharaz which most people like or a simple Merlot

Hey Sharon,

Good wines all, but they won't all stand up to NiceStock Lasagne. The latter, the Mercurey, stands the best shot of the three. It's got just enough of a bite to it to compete with the overwelling taste of the NSL.

How dare you insinuate I'm biased?

Actually, the Pinot Noir is the major vine from Burgandy for red wine...in fact, I think it's the only "official" for the naming conventions I taught you (région, appellation, 1er cru, grand cru). The majority from Bordeaux are Cabernet and Merlot...much, much more mellow and therefore, though fine grapes, not great candidates either for your meal.

I'm no expert but i would go for all three in quick succession, followed by dancing on the table, sleeping under the table and waking to burnt lasagne in the burnt kitchen, with a deep sense of regret and zero memory...?

but hey, that's just me.

i don't think pinot noir holds up to rich tomato sauces, tho.
not to my taste buds.
too soft.
medocs have more tannin and more bite.

that actually sound like many a night i have had with my twin sister, we would start with just a taste of this wine and then a taste of that ,and before you knew it was 4 hours later the dinner burnt to a crisp, and we would have to send out for a takeaway (we are both chefs!), but it was good fun> the bad bit was waking up in the morning with the same fabulous hair do ,you had last night (all be it a bit sqint) and perfectly made up because you had went into a coma as soon as your head hit the pillow.then BANG the hangover hit you

My kinda girl. Except for the burnt lasagna. We should find a solution for that.

this is the only way to look glamorous the morning after, over breakfast or as you walk home as the milkmen are delivering and the sun is coming up... oh sigh, i want to be 20 again!!
ps if i go to ikea (for a sturdy table) and bring panna cotta can I come???

micE gave me a lovely recipe for the panna cotta, it sit waiting in the fridge as we speak. Lasagne is in the oven,bread is made just going to put on a bit slap and ready to go,so i thought i would just do a little wine tasting before they come,er just so i can make sure they are drinking the right wine.

Sorry, I'm a little bit late for this as I think you're all already drunk but I would go for the Mercurey 2000 Blason De Borgogne ... probably because I was born in Burgundy and raised with it's wine since ... err ... can't tell ... but definitely no beer
