I'm only new here but this whole Nicestock thing sounds really interesting... The problem I have is that I'm not much of a musician, I'm a complete newbie with my AW16G and I know almost nothing about studios/recording. Plus I'm too scared to turn up despite the fact that I know I'd learn loads from you guys! ...

Can I order the DVD of this year's event and then decide whether I can work up the courage to attend a future one?

The place will be awash with musicians of varying abilities from tip-top players such as myself to numpties like the host

We don't bite (except for Robbie, should he mistake you for something to eat. As long as you move slowly and don't make any brisk movement, he's one great guy though... literally ).

I play bass mainly, I like cheese and I live fairly near Scotland so if the pay is good I can happily dress like a bass-playing, skirt-wearing, fine piece of Gouda...

I've had similar feelings prior to Texastock and have also met other forumites.

I've found a community that, while scattered, has a more cohesive heart than any other of it's kind out there. Ageing about five to about sixty-something. More shared values than you'd think reading some of the debates.

Mostly an attitude of sharing, speaking for my part, I left Texas a whole lot more musician (physically as well as mentally).

And that's just the musical part. I've made some lifelong friends who've donated generously to my longtem survival. No B.S. - join in....oh yeah - WELCOME!

It may be a struggle this year but I'm getting it together as may be.

I made it to TexaStock and had an amazing time despite being a self taught bass and guitar player playing behind Don who worked as a pro bass player and continues to play guitar and sing professionally along with Ross who was most gracious.

Geno shared amazing tips on mixing edting on the G.

Sure I felt outclassed not knowing many covers since I only played in original bands but I had an amazing time.

Don't let any type of insecurity stop you.

I don't know what took me so long to notice and I'm not trying to find excuses to avoid going... honest! I'd almost decided that I was definitely up for it (if I practiced a bit between now and then...) - anyway, I've just figured out that around those dates I am supposed to become a (step-)grandfather!

I'm thinking it might be best to stay at home for that... otherwise Mrs Wolf would crucify me never mind the mother of the wee bairn!!
