I think he maybe referring to the actual disc rather than the CD drive Byron.
If so a Google search should show someone selling one somewhere.
Good luck Les.

I just use regular cd's. They're good for individual backups and you can burn the final project on one. You should be able to get them anywhere.

As I said I think Les is talking about the CD rom that comes with the machine.
It did originally come with a CD rom set up disc didn't it ??? I'm almost sure my aw1600 did.

The Cd does not have a lot of useful stuff.. the demo song is on there, and you all know what we think of that!! I think the templates for connecting / assigning to software , for use as a control surface are on there too.

Apparently you can use it to restore factory settings. Was hoping to do that to wipe any spurious settings on there.
Think I'll be ok as it is though...

I think there is a way by pressing buttons while you turn the machine on but it's been so long since I've done it I can't remember the procedure.
Or maybe that was for something else I'm not sure.
Sorry not a lot of help there Les.
Good luck.

I don't think you will find setting that others have made that need to be reset. there is not much in the way of user setting on the AW machines. There are some useful toggles on the preferences/utility page, but you do not need the CD disc to access those items. As with all these machines it is necessary to utilize the Initial Setting preset on the Scenes page, in order to set the machine to a known starting point. Again, no CD needed. As Mac says there are some button pushing sequences to do such procedures as calibrating the faders. You may want to reformat the HD. that can be done without the CD too.. Robbie would be proud of you if you learn how to do that..

Here is a big tip that i do not believe is covered in the manual. I heard about it while using another piece of gear, not from Yamaha, but decided to try it on the 2400. It involves the two buttons above the jog wheel labeled - (decrease) and + (increase). When you want to change a setting such as a pan or aux send or frequency #, you can do it by using the cursor to choose the field and adjusting via the jog wheel or alternately by pressing the + or - button. What the manual DOES tell you, and is obvious, is that, if you press the + button and hold it down, then the target number cycles up. But what the manual DOES NOT say is that - - - While you are doing that advancement, press (and hold) the - button and the rate of increase is greatly accelerated. Works in the opposite way too. This is a BIG time saver and also will decrease use and wear of the jog wheel..
