Hi guys

I'm looking around for a more user friendly mounting stand(?) for my AW1600.

I may build something but was wondering if a ready made product was available.

I rememder in a promo video Yamaha did they had it mounted on what appeared to be a big music stand?

I want it to be able to tilt recorder so I can see the display meters and such while seated with guitar etc. 45 degrees?, give or take.

Stable, but w/o an excessive floor footprint. Like a keyboard stand or amp stand has

I use an old drafting table. i attached some cleats (made from door stop trim) and both my machines (1600 and 2400) sit side by side, tilted at the angle i set, not as steep as 45, but probably more like 35.

hello there,
ditto from me on the drafting table ... i got mine from staples at the bargain price of $35 !! it included a shelf on the lower wheeled framework so i have storage for incedentals ... manuals, ext. harddrives, blacklight fixture to illuminate my x-15 midi footswitch ...
it doesn't tilt to 45 degrees .... i use approximately 20 degrees of tilt ... it also conveiniently DISALLOWS a cup of coffe to be placed in a potentially dangerous spot ... just sayin' ...

best affordable solution for me .... and others ?

Drafting table. Nice. With the 20* angle it affords can you see the display OK while seated in front of it?

I found one on amazon that adjusts to vertical. Not $35 but still affordable. Thanks! looks like the best solution.

I have no room for a drafting table (or much of anything else anymore), so I took a few hours and built my own table-top unit out of spare lumber in the garage and a piece of 12" shelving cut to 18" wide. The AW is held up by tucking the rubber feet over the top of the stand. It's pretty stout and the only impediment was the cd drawer, but the 1+ inch of lift at the front makes it work. I'm still devising a more stable way to mount the AW than by it's feet, but it works great so far!

Heck guys, don't shower me with any praise--I built this in an afternoon, without a plan or an idea, just a desire to be able to see levels and settings from across the room--Each stick was devised as I went, the ONLY measurement was the 18 inches of width. I'll admit it's a solid piece of furniture, but I actually fumbled my way into it.

Having a large selection of powertools didn't hurt any. Without the miter saw my angled cuts would have been a mess!

BTW, if you look just above the base at the front of the stand you'll see the paint stirring stick I used to shim the 35 degree angle--Really high tech, ya know?

Is your alligator head flat-frequency or death-roll compensated?

Nice piece of furniture; I set up my G on the kitchen table, take it down, set it up, rinse and repeat. A proper workspace with custom cabinetry sure facilitates the workflow . . .

Boy is THAT a good question... The alligator head was a gift, came from what I was ensured an "alligator-head farm", from a friend many years ago...Hasn't had any ambient frequency anomaly issues that I'm aware of...



Randy, I have my own SWMBO allowed studio space, where all my musically-oriented "things" must be stored and/or utilized. The desk you see is my version of a kitchen table...

Upon going back to spot the alleged alligator, I spot him guarding the 8-track tape. I am not sure that format will ever gain popularity again, but it remains a unique sonic memory. Who could forget those self installed, under-dash, 6X9s in the back window ledge, fade down - click - fade up moments?

I have about 20 8-tracks. I'd love to transfer them to cd, but I haven't known anyone with a working player in decades. I believe the one you see in the pic is "Mancini Plays the All-Time Great TV Theme Songs" or some such...Spirit was great.

Focus II (Moving Waves) by Focus and Clapton's 461 Ocean Blvd... certainly not my favorites, but the only ones I have that still play...

I'm a big Focus fan. When I was about 11 I bought a few "old" tape recorder reels which had a very nice kind of music on it. Didn't know who it was for years. Later I found out it was the album "Hamburger Concerto" from Focus. One of the main figures is Thijs van Leer who is a brilliant musician. My parents had several albums on vinyl ("Introspection") and I liked it a lot (althoug it was more classic than rock). So I bought all the other Focus albums.

If you want any Focus stuff in a decent mp3 format, let me know.
