just when i was getting my enthusiasm back for recording, after far too long, i have done a daft thing and broken my left shoulder and upper arm. i would love to say it happened by doing something really macho, but to be honest, i fell off ladders trying to change a ceiling lightbulb.
silly old sod.
i had so many ideas and questions to ask you lot, but now i can’t do a thing. can’t play anything. the pain is unbelievable, can’t even move my left arm away from my body. i thought about trying something acapella on my g, but i don’t even have the energy for that. it’s a bloody nightmare. also can’t sleep and you realise what a benefit a good night’s sleep is.
i’m typing this with my right index finger, so, sorry for any mistakes.
at my appointment at the hospital i asked the doctor if i would be able to play the piano when my arm and shoulder are better. He said....of course you will be able to play the piano. i told him that’s a bloody miracle, i couldn’t play it before. boom boom. the old ones are the best.
i do a wee bit of voluntary work, and received a get well card from one of my guys. he is almost totally lame in a big electric wheelchair, can only use his right arm, can’t speak, and is fed with tubes. totally humbling that he should wish me well.
i’m sure it will come good eventually, and i will bore you with some crap recording or lots of questions. best wishes to all of you. cheers. dave.

Wow Dave, be careful!

Leave the light bulb changing to the techies! :)

I hope the shoulder and arm will heal quickly and the pain will go away soon. Nothing so frustrating as not being able to sleep while being sleepy.

bummer... my dad went thru the same predicament...and he was changing a light bulb too...

get well soon and you'll be back at it... at least you have a decent excuse... I have no reason not to record, and yet I still don't

That's the pits, Dave. :(

Glad I read this post this a.m. and not last night before I got up on a ladder to help my daughter hang new drapes. The "power of suggestion" might have caused me to have the same problem.

Hope the recovery is quick.

Hi Dave/Byron - yes - haven't posted on here for a while.have been loitering now and then though! band is going ok thanks.been a bit quiet on the gigs front. but am just finishing off the artwork for our new album (recorded entirely on my aw1600). Should be released in new year I think, so hopefully we'll get a bit busier around then.

also am hoping that in the next few months i'm going to do my first job of engineering/producing an album for someone else which i'm really excited/nervous about. Some friends of mine have a really cool boy/girl acoustic/country/bluegrass band.acoustic guitars/fiddle/standup bass and pedal steel. they live in a really cool old barn conversion, so I am going to take all my gear over there for a week and try and record them pretty much live in their big living room. The are called The Rosellys and are really good so i'm quite excited.

also bought myself a new valve mic recently as well:

haven't put it through its paces yet, but will report back once I have.

oh yeah - also, my wife and I nearly bankrupted ourselves on a guitar purchase recently - went to a vintage guitar shop and she 'had to have' a 1976 martin d18 in a lovely sunburst (I think martin call it 'amberburst'). that is her birthday presents and Christmas presents for as while!!

hope you are all well on here and hope your shoulder heals as quick as possible dave

Hi Dave. Sorry to read this. Hope you'll soon mend. Are you right handed? Can you still do your art stuff ? I hope so. Wouldn't mind looking at another one of your creations.
