The last couple of nights I watched a documentary about music in the late 50`s and 60`s.
Last night was more or less dedicated to Elvis Presley, who`s music I`ve never really been a fan of to be honest I was more a follower of the Beatles, but there was an excellent part of the show when Elvis` drummer was being interviewed and was asked about equipment, and after a couple of minutes said "we never had all the fancy eq`s they have today, if Elvis`s voice needed more treble he was told to take a small step back, and if it needed more bass he was told to move forward a little" :)
I love it when things are just laid bare, uncomplicated and simple.

Yep, right there with you on Elvis. I was and am a Beatles fan. Even though The King lived right here in Memphis, my mom went to school with him, my parents went to a party where he picked up a guitar and started to sing and then introduced himself to them and shook their hand, I just wasn't much in to his music. Back in the early 70's, I was driving down a street and hit a red light. Up next to me comes this 3 wheeler with Elvis on it. He waived and just took off when the light changed. People here didn't really get all excited about it. But once he died, it changed everything. Now this city packs them in from across the globe in January(birthday) and August(death). It's insane!

Yes, I've done the tour of Graceland three times!

Good story Ron.
I`ve always preferred The Beatles probably because my sister was nuts about them and had every single and every album they ever made, I grew up with it blaring out all day but never complained :)
She went to see them at the City Hall here, and said she could`nt hear them for all the non stop screaming.
I saw Paul McCartney in `73 with Wings, without the screaming which was a great night, actually ended up with me and a couple of mates deciding to form a Beatles tribute band, which we did and gigged up and down the U.K. for about 5 years.
Enjoy the rest of your day.

Your sister was lucky. Even though she probably couldn't hear much of it for the screams, it's a memory well burned into the brain. My mom took my brother and me to see The Beatles here in 1966. While I don't remember every single detail, I do remember much. It's one of those life changing events that prompted me to become a musician that records once a year. :-" Just as cool is years later, a friend of ours, who was the General Manager of the Coliseum where The Beatles played that concert, found the negatives of photos taken back then. I was able to take one of the negatives and have an awesome photo developed. It's hanging on my wall above the photos I bought that day back in 66.
