I tried exporting tr 1-16 from my new project tonight....and it gives me a "Memory Full". I think:" I'll just search the forum of my newfound friends at DijonStock"....but....no solution here either. I can see the problem has been posted once before, but without a solution it seems. Any sugestions?

I've allready tried;
- saving
- shutdown
- optimizing
- copy entire song
- move some track around

Only change in luck was when I optimized several of my projects...my export now gets to 41% and not only 13%

OK so obviously for exporting you need a buffer which you increased, but it's not big enough.

Can you make a backup? I'd make a backup of a couple of projects and remove one or more from the harddisk. And maybe put it back later.

Yeah, you need space on the disk to make the wave file. Robbie's right, but that would take a while. Alternatively, you could do a back up of your new project, take it to the PC and use AWExtract to turn backup file into WAV. Got to back up 2816 format. AWExtract is around these parts somewhere.

Sooo...you're saying the G's memory needs to swap to the disc once in a while, and if there's not enough room on the disc....you get the memory full. THat seems to make sence. I'll give it a go, even though I don't have that much on it. 15-20 project of ... aprx. 300-500mb each. That's only 10gb...and the disk is 20gb

The project i 6 tracks of 45sec....so it not like it's anything major.

Maybe a lot of frag. You doing a lot of editing? Working on different songs at the same time (that is, not finishing them but working on each here and there)?

You might want to take the time and do a complete backup and reformat the disk. Then when you restore, start with the songs that are done.

Yup - that sounds like the way I "work"

I've cleaned up some, but I still get the "Memory Full" error.
I can export other and much bigger projects without any errors. It seems to be just the one project that fails. Luckely, it was just a recording of me, messing around with guitars and vocals... I would really hate it, if I'd spent day on a project with the entire band, only to find out that it cannot be exportet

If that's the case, it sounds like there's a pointer somewhere pointing off into space.

I get the same messgae on my AW16G now. I only have about 2 Gb of music on it. I don't get it..... Please help!!

I've recorded some songs with my band yesterday. I used track 1-6 for the drums and 7 for the bass. When we wnated to listen to it, the playback was totally wierd. It starts at about 2 minutes into the song, and it just jumps in the time. It totally messes it up!! It sounds a bit like it's too much for the machine to play. Like it don't have enough strength or something..
Damn it's hard to explain...

Backup what you can and reformat. The drive's file allocation table sounds pretty zooked.

There's not only data on the disc, Kenneth. There's also administration on the disc, mainly consisting of two tables (DET and FAT) that needs integrity. Sometimes, errors can be repaired but the G has no tools for that. So, backing up means saving as much information as you can. Then, reformat the disc so a new empty administration will be put on the disc. Next, put your backups back.

There's not really a way to prevent it I guess. Maybe giving the machine some time when pressing the buttons (for instance with editing) helps. Of course there are more reasons to make backups regularly - it's a harddisc based machine after all.

I usually reformat every +/- 5 projects, however at the moment I'm finishing a project with a men's choir, consisting of 54 recordings, of which 26 will end up on the audio CD. Lots of editing involved, but no problems at all. When I'm done, I will reformat the disc.

I might be inclined to do a 2816 backup , defrag , open a new song and restore the backup to it and see if you have the same problem. If things are OK then just delete the problem song then go on.

I have never had to reformat my G and the disk is nearly full. I do know sometimes that is the only fix. That may be you situation as well.

Be sure to backup evey thing if you do.

Kenneth - I have had this problem only once. I couldn't export tracks 1-16. I tried them one at a time and found the culprit. One of the tracks goes on forever. Although it has an end point, plays on the G ok, and doesn't cause the song to have an unusual file size, the composite wav file for this track has no end. Don't know how it happened and wasn't aware of it until I was doing my final backups at the end of the project. Sorry I don't have a solution.

Years later, in case this helps anyone: I took the suggestions from the thread and derived another option that worked for me. I simply bounce-recorded the offending track to a new one, which exported with no problems.

Has to be the reply of the year! Seven years later and the problem is solved. And with a different screen name.

If you are on 1600 there may be two issues. On the 1600 you export files to the transport folder. There is a size limit on the transport folder (about 2 gB I think) If your transport folder is cluttered with files from previous exports, this may be the problem. Hook up to your PC and call up the transport folder, trash files you don't need. I don't think there is a way to manage the transport from within the AW 1600. It must be done from the PC, via the USB.

If you are on a G, or your transport is not cluttered, you experiencing an Hard Drive problem (space). Delete some old projects and this will correct itself. Let us know how you made out.
