I found an only city archive of pictures made here in the neighbourhood, mostly by newspaper photographers. Pics of the early 30's until just a few years back, digitized and well organised, and key words attached to them. I found several pictures of myself, like the one below.

You'll probably have to slide or zoom the pic a bit. I'm the tallest guy in the pic (duh), 13 years of age at the time.

We were skating on the street right behind our back yard. There was so much glaze ice on the streets you could ice skate on it, which we did.

That's a pretty cool thing to find. You are the one standing in the back whatching the others fall

I have only one single picture of when i was about three and about twelve. Yet there must be quite a few of these pictures as my dad had a polaroid and a Kodak when i was a kid ...

Haha, I found a pic of my dad, in his Simca 1100, in 1981. Purely coincidental. Like finding a pic of my boss when he was about 17 years of age. I can use that against him someday

Nice find Rob. That's such a great photo with memories. We rarely have snow here in Memphis. If we do it's no more than 3 - 6 inches and it's gone in a day or two. Of course now I've totally jinxed myself and we'll get 20" in January.

This one's in one of the big Daily's here when I was ten. We entered the National Youth Schools Music Competition not expecting to get anywhere- we were a school in a working class area. Our Teacher loved music and she formed us into a 13 piece band including 2 drummers (snare only), a triangle, castanets (moi), and a variety of other instruments. Imagine our surprise when we were informed we had made it through to the final at the Lyceum Ballroom down the smoke- or as me old man would say up (ap) Lo(a)ndon- you always go up to the Capital! I put it down to the fact that there was a postal strike on at the time and most of the tapes got lost in the post. Anyway... we travelled down the night before with our parents, and come the day we went in to the Ballroom and I realised we were competing against all these schools who had orchestras and string quartets, and they were brilliant- and then there was us with our tin pot instruments. Anyway, to cut to the chase, before it all started, a photographer from the Daily Mail (boo hiss- The Mail not the Photographer) approached our Teacher to ask for a photo (he must have felt sorry for us), so the Teacher picked the four of us closest at hand. We got an ice cream and to be on page 3 of the Daily Mail! By the way, I actually wet myself on stage, I was that nervous- at least it was after the photo.
