If anyone wants to help me out with some blues harp on a delta blues kind of song I would really appreciate it.

The song is in open G + comprises an acoustic guitar, a few slide licks + a vocal.

I should finish up a rough version over the weekend.

Any takers ?

I'm afraid i don't have a Blues Harp in G key. I could give it a try on the chromatic harmonica but success is higly dependend on the key the song is in. I'm not sure G is possible. I'll have to hear it first. I'll check if can get my hands on G harp and let you know but that may take some time. It's not the kind of instrument you'd wanna borrow from a friend (should have a 'yikes' smiley now...)...

Although I'm not a harmonica player, I think to play blues on a harmonica/harp, you play what is known as "cross harp". For a song in the key of G, you use a harp in the key of C. See
http://www.grothmusic.com/online/crossharp.htm

Also you don't play it like a standard C harp. You do a lot of sucking vs. blowing.

I have a buddy that's really good. I'm sure I can have him over for a track if you want.

Thanks guys.

Ralph, you are dead right. C harp is what's needed on a song in G.

Thanks for the offer Dirk but blues on a chromatic does not usually work out.

Beer, - would appreciate your help as long as it doesn't put you out. How do we swap files ? I was thinking that I could send you a 2 track mix and then.......that was as far as I got

Just send me a wav file. Go to yousendit.com make a free account and email it to :
ipla@comcast.net

Make sure the beginning of the wav file is the 00:00 point of your song so it all lines up on our time grids nice.

yousendit works great and you'll use it again in the future for sure. Might as well get it figured out. It's simple.

Hi,

DeltaBlues is one of my favorite music styles

like Beer said, for a song in "G" playing crossharp, a "C"-Harp is the way to go!
If beers buddy cant do the harps I can try to do it. If you also need some Dobro sliding through the song, I can try this too.

Andreas

You can always swap bigger files by using the file exchange section.

See announcement for details.

Thanks Andreas. I'll see how I get on first. struggling a bit with slide on the fade out - will wait + see how the harp works out + try to fit in with that. Do you have a wooden dobro or a national type steel ?

Yeah delta blues is my favourite type of blues. I love the old stuff betwenn the 40's + early 60's.
The rougher the better.

The hardest part is coming up with lyrics that don't sound wanky. The best ones have already been done + it is difficult to avoid cliches. We'll see

Thanks also for the info Robbie

C i do have :) . on the other hand you may well be surprised what the chromatic can do. Even if you don't plan on using my input i'd still like to try if you don't mind. I need lots of practice and these little projects are just the thing. To me the learning is the most important part right now. Then again, it's up to you.

Good stuff, Beer. I look forward to seeing what you come up with. Thanks to you + Gary in advance.

Btw I actually found it quicker to upload the stuff to the file exchange. Don't know about downloading, though.

Followed Robbies advice.

PEAS, Robbie !

Oscar, do you want your own section here? http://forum.dijonstock.com/viewforum.php?f=20

Bartman has his Zutebox, Scooter his Lava Lamp section, RZ his Web Games and a few more... we could call yours "peas and quiet".

BTW I had to look up that a wheel barrow is and I ran into a typical MrSkygod project:
