Some years ago there was a TV program on the italian TV called "Io confesso" translated (duh!) I confess. It was exactly that... giving people the opportunity to get something off their chest. You'd be amazed of what some people confessed... on the other hand, having the 'net and all, you're probably not.

Bok's Confessional Section... hm... sounds a bit like "Services Sunday 10:00 am and 11:30 am"... how 'bout it Reverend Bok...

Maybe that's the reason why so few people are honest these day's. I am not hollier than the pope but when you tell someone you did the honest thing they all start going. "What's the matter with you ? don't you like money ?, If you don't someone else will etc...". Shouldn't we applaud people that want to be honest ? After all they do pay a lot of taxes so mine don't go up !

No honestly i'am all for the honest aproach. Then again it ain't honest that we are all taxed so heavily. Aspecially overhere so if i could save a buck i'd probably do it too.

In the end it all boils down to personal interest versus common interest.

In Belgium, fuel is a lot cheaper, so lots of people that are visiting Belgium fill their fuel tanks there (personal interest). So once I told them that in the end it is stupid because we're paying to the wrong tax authority, throwing all that cash away (common interest). I could tell by the looks on their faces they never gave it much thought.

When the family bought me my Taylor acoustic I wanted to use MB's tax certificate to avoid paying sales tax (much like Fordirk's VAT avoidance plan). The Guitar Center employee actually suggested it. MB wouldn't do it because she thought it dishonest....which it is.

I later found out from Geno that as a "producer of music" (very loose definition !) in the state of Texas, I have legal tax exempt status for the purchase of anything used in the recording process. Soooooo........I OVERPAID taxes for that transaction.

I think what they mean is "producer in music making money being a producer, hence paying taxes", where a guitar (or anything else) is deductable.

A former colleague (Harvard law degree...though I don't hold it against him) tells me I'm well within the law as long as I have submitted songs for consideration to a person or entity that has the intent and ability to buy them (if they like them). So far.....I have not sold any.
