I'm sure there's one out there , consult yer local geek on that one. Uncle Yammie doesn't publish useful information like that. I do know from experiance a 60GB. Travelstar laptop HD will work in a 4416.

There is some info on that on this board, so try the search function. If you don't find it let me know, I'll do some searcing too. There's nothing wrong with using a used HD as long as it's a compatible type.

Thanks guys. I was talking with the yamaha tech guy and he said it had to be new. Ill try and call them back today to see why, Im guessing because you might not be able to delete partitions on the machine?

It is because disk need to be low level formatted, no OS, no partition.
I think it could be "cleaned" with special software on computer.

You can't fall yourself a lump for 22 dollars.

With the price of hard drives so low why get a "refurbished"? Does anyone have a list of compatible drives and maximum that can be used?

p.s. Not having a job sucks!

The problem with new drives is they're not the same specs as they used to be when AW was new. Yes, they are cheaper per Gb, faster, etc... But AW doesn't accept this as a benefit :^o
For AW16G I think max is 40GB, for 1600 don't know. Probably both have Travelstar discs. Search forum for this.
