If you're thinking about it, you definitely can negotiate the price as low as $1440. Who knows, maybe more.

The same thing happened when the 4416 was discontinued. Guitar Center had the absolute last of them. I remember when I told '61 about it and he bought the last one they had. I had to buy a used one the next day.

Thanks Ron for the heads up. I have been monitoring these units here in Australia since they were discontinued in the US last May but they haven't been reduced here since the RRP was reduced by Yammy a couple of years back - until today! I had almost given up. My G is now 5 yrs old and I want to keep it as a legacy machine so I want to stop flogging it so hard before it dies.

There is such a small market for them (AW2400) here and the Australian dollar has recently dropped by almost 1/3 against the US. Most of the music shop web sites have been marked "prices have increased due to the falling dollar, please ring for the updated price" since Nov

I knew I'd have to get in quick based on US experiences reported here. So I rang and, yes, they have only one. Now waiting for advice that the order has gone through. Whoo whoo!

Unit received (and touched). What a monster - my poor G looks like a little brother. Guess I'll be a newbie again so bear with me.

MSG: The australian dollar has dropped against all major currencies by varying amounts due to our resouce-based economy and the world recession. I quoted the US rate to give a mental comparison of prices with the US so, at 70c, my $AUD 2400 equates to about $USD1700. I think the price there is around the $USD1500 now so I'm happy with that.

Congratulation to you for this deal with a great machine.
You will see that most of the steps you have to do are equal to the G, but there are some very usefull new functions you will love in future. Like Byron said, dont forget about the layers. The automix is really a very powerful function with this machine. Once you understand how it works it is so useful and easy and quick to use. No need to mix on a PC. You will ove to see the faders move up and down and channels switch on and off. Seems a ghost is working hard in this machine to do it for you .
USB is great for fast and easy file transfer to PC!

Also the possibility to add a card to the expansion slot is great (Yamaha could done better with 2 slots). I added a My8-AD24 to the slot to get 16 inputs, and I nedds it all days because the AW2400 is the live mixer for my band, too. Geno recommended to use a wave card with the expansion slot, an interesting option, too, but very expensive .

You will see that you will get familiar with your new toy after some days as an experienced G-user.

I downloaded the manual twelve months ago and have read it cover to cover many times. Today, I spent the whole day going through all of the menus and screens and they seem familiar and similar to those on the G. The routings are more complex, of course, and I'm sure I'll spend many sessions scratching my head with no signal. I got a surprise when I first hit the master layer button and all of the relevant faders flew up to 0. They sure move quickly.

RZ helped me with my first problem when I was G newbie so I'm glad to have you, Ron, and Byron ( and others) available if I get stuck.
