I had the same problem, with no explanation. See
http://forum.dijonstock.com/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=9369&p=104096#p104096

What I ended up doing was making a new empty song them importing tracks, scenes, etc. from the one causing an error. OK then on the backup. Just making a song copy still got the error.

Are you sure it said "2816 System Error" ? I have searched all the recorder manuals and this string of words does not occur.

no - just system erro.
but doing the 2816 backup causes it.
i only have maybe 13 songs and must disk is nearly full.
i deleted the songs i was able to backup successfully - except for a couple i'm still working with.
i'd like to know why i can back up some but not others...... :?:

I had this probleem too. I've finally managed to backup the songs to AW2816 format by first deleting the stereo mixdown tracks V2 and V3 (I already deleted V1 to save space). I'm not sure whether it is the solution and can't explain why it works, only know it did work for me. I've put some more info in this thread: http://forum.dijonstock.com/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=10622&p=126920&hilit=system+error#p126920. Hope this is of any help.

I am assuming you are still using a 16G Mac. PeeVee raises and interesting point here. The 2816 , 4416 only have no virtual stereo tracks like the 16G , 1600 and 2400. ie. All the tracks have virtuals except the stereo track. Instead you have multiple automixes of the stereo track.

To check things out , simply move the virtual stereo track you might be using (say VT4 for example ) to VT1 , select it and do a mixdown and save. Now see if this result burns a backup . Because the 2816 backup is (not to be confused with an audio CD burn) proprietary to the backup archecture of the early machines , a late model machine may read a non-selected VT#1 as a "blank" and therefore not back it up.

Easily verified by the method described above. let is know.

Mac, I had the same problem. When I was backing everything as 2816 to load on the 2400, one song kept stopping and would never burn. I asked the forum and no one had an answer. So I said F it and deleted it. I don't think I had more than one stereo track. So I have no idea what happened. Wish I could help.

I've now checked the other songs. I'm pretty sure the problem is related to (the number of virtual) stereo mixdown tracks. I first wasted another 8 CDR's just to make sure the problem was consistent (it was!). Alle songs were using multiple virtual stereo mix tracks except for one. That one could be exported without a problem, the others not. While I don't need the final mix anymore, I deleted all the stereo tracks. Export to 2816 works fine then.

If the 4416 and 2816 support only one mixdown stereo track, I suppose you can a mixdown track to your liking to V1 stereo track. Then delete other mixdown stereo tracks (V2 and up). I will probably export (not tested this, ran out of CDR's and first wanted to have these songs backed up to 2816 format).

Glad I could be of help... No thanks, just send CDR's ;)
