There are a few submission method options available to anyone who is interested in making a submission for the Compilation CD as compared to when in 2004 I simply had dial up internet access and the only method was via snail mail.

If you have a high speed internet connection and you wish to submit a wave file or higher bit rate mp3 file larger than 128 kbps which is the limit on the free Sounclick.com site:

1) Sign on as a member at http://www.yousendit.com/
2) You can email your file to me at clinerndy@yahoo.com

If you have dial-up internet access and are unable to transfer large files you can either:

1) PM me for my home mailing address.
2) Provide me with a link to your Soundclick page or any other location where I can retrieve your file.

I’m also confident that Robbie will assist any person who lives in Europe and abroad in making a submission (and thus avoid high postal fees) by providing a temporary place for your music file(s) transfer.

I hadn’t given much thought to on a CD cover design but I’m open to any suggestions other than my personal preference that it be a photograph taken by Lysdexia of a serene pasture or lakeside view.

I plan to use this thread to keep everyone informed of progress and acknowledge receipt of submissions.

Thanks to all for allowing me to coordinate this effort once again!

Randy

p.s. I almost forgot to include that because it has taken so long for this project to get off the ground.....I think it only fair that the original deadline of Dec 31, 2007 be extended to March 30, 2008. This way noone is under any extreme pressure during the upcoming Holiday season to hastily submit. If there are no objections....March 30. 2008 is the deadline.

OK, I'm in. I will submit a song before Dec 31, 23:59:59 DUTCH TIME (GMT+2). 8)

Check the stickies in the announcements section for information on how to use the "exchange room". It can handle files as large as 200 Mb.

If there's any further technical assistance needed, just let me know.

RZ called me on the telephone today and he was very greatful to hear that I extended the deadline. It gives him plenty of time to dust off his G and learn how to record again. :D :P

this is really interesting!
how has the comp been handled in the past regarding
continuity?

should submissions have zero volumizing like compression and gain, etc?

Excellent, Randy! I'm glad that you started a new thread on the matter--the other one had become a slow, confusing read for many people, especially newcomers. I also really appreciate the many options available for tune submittal. Well done.

A suggestion... Could we ask everyone to submit a short description (just a few lines) of any tunes submitted? If you need help, I'd be happy to assemble these descriptions into one coherent document once we have the song order set. We could then either include the page(s) as a CD insert or, even easier, make the document downloadable via the forum. I'm probably not the only one who enjoyed reading something about each tune on the last CD Comp; if others agree, we'd be wise to request this information right at the time of submittal. Just a thought.

Thanks again,
J.

That's even better. We can blame Ron. :)

Greetings joel.

Continuity has always been at the disgression of whoever was compiling the CD. Well, that is me in 2004 and Robbie more recently.

If you decide to make a submission take care to keep your file from clipping overall.

Hope you decide to submit a file. :)

I did not normalize the songs or applied compression or whatever. But I had the luxury of having over 3.5 hours of music to fill 3 CD's. I could use the volume as one of the criteria for the order - on which CD to put a song. So, there was a soft CD, a somewhat louder CD and a loudest CD. In the end the difference was quite small.

BTW Randy one more post and you're a member for the 2K club.

Randy,

Are you serious on moving the deadline to March? That would actually be good for me as I was sweating completing my mix before midnight and transferring it.

Its pretty much done except for getting all my scenes to switch at the right time and stayed up to midnight determined to have a final mix burned but I just could not stay awake much less focus.

I do like the idea of some kind of linear notes for the songs.

Thanks Randy for taking on another project!

I finally will get to participate!
