Hi everyone,

Thought I'd post here to see if anyone has a Y96K card I can get my hands on?

Good luck finding one of those. I know they're out there and Byron has one, but I doubt he's selling it. All you can do is keep looking in the usual places. On rare occasion they do pop up.

Just looked today before i saw this post. No y96k on ebay today. they do come up. Still fairly pricey when they do.

I use mine a lot, but a word of caution. You have experience with Yamaha gear it seems. Perhaps you had a y56k in the 4416? or with the 0v1? If you do you will have learned that the resources on the processors get used up pretty quickly. there are 8 chains available across two processors. 4 chains (or 2 stereo) for each processor. An EQ>deEss>Truverb>L1+ chain pretty much uses up one complete processor's capacity.

I suppose if you just used a limiter you could put one on each of the 8 chains for safety's sake, assigned to the inputs for e.g. That said, I find the card invaluable on the stereo bus and I usually find selected tracks that could benefit from the wavs processors for compression and or EQ or perhaps "smashing" ie crunching a track, ... I find the super tap hard to adjust but I give it a go every now and then. I use the 2400's delays in EFF 1-4 more often for simple stuff. I wish the machine would synch delays to the Tempo map, but no such luck. Have to calculate and then adjust accordingly

Also there is an ADAT lightpipe on the y96k that makes it easy to add 8 more inputs from outboard preamp(s)
