Has anybody (preferably in the UK) got an unwanted late-model (2007 or later) AW1600 for sale in mint or near-mint condition complete with the original Yamaha sofware CD-ROM? There have been lots of 2nd, 3rd and 4th hand units on ebay recently but nothing half-way decent seems to be listed.

What is wrong with the units you seem to find unfavourable? There seem to be remarkably few tales of AW machines gone wrong; at least on this forum.

Welcome to the forum.

If you find an AW1600 in working condition, buy it. The chances of it letting you down are remarkably slim.

Many thanks for your replies. Ebay has had quite a few of these lately but on closer questioning many have had bent knobs and sticking faders etc and are badly scratched or dented or the Yamaha software CD-ROM is missing (Yes I know I can download it from this site or buy a new one for £3.08 retail from Yamaha in the UK - Yamaha Part No.X6148A0R) but a missing CD-ROM seems to signify that the owner hasn't taken very good care of his/her machine or has bought it third or fourth hand. I'm trying to find a late model AW1600 that will last me for many years; I have previously used SONAR for recording audio direct to my computer but this seems a very inconvenient way of doing things and there is nothing like the old-fashioned way of 'hands-on' buttons and faders etc.

A forum member advertised one in Feb. PM him and see if he still has it. In the US, though.

I wouldn't worry about no CD-ROM, myself. Broken things are a different matter, however.

When you get one, you'll like it. Good luck.
