RIP Chris Squire of Yes. A unique voice on the bass, and one of my all time favorite bass players. I listened to Close to the Edge on the way to work today in his memory and still love it as much as I did when I discovered it in the late 70's.

The news of Chris Squire really bummed me out. I've been listening to Yes on and off since I first heard their cover of the Beatles 'Every Little Thing' in 1969. The Yes Album from 1971 was my favorite album back then for years and years. I can still happily listen to it today. I was fortunate to see Yes in concert a few times in their early 70's hey-day. I was a huge Chris Squire fan. Loved his playing and his unique sound.

In fact, I spent part of weekend watching some old live footage of Yes from the early 70s on youtube.....only to read about Squire's passing yesterday.

A lot of my musical heroes have passed away in recent years....but this one left me with a heavy heart.
