I wanted to let all my Dijonstock friends know that overnight, Natalie's dad died in his sleep. He was 80 years young. He lived a very full life and ran circles around me with his endless energy. About 6 months ago he had open heart surgery to repair a leaky valve. He really never was quite the same, but it didn't stop him. He continued to play golf, was a percussionist in a local orchestra, and worked up until the end. If there is someone up there looking over us, the plan for his end was scheduled. I think he was given an extension by having this surgery. It allowed him to make the trip last week to San Diego to see his granddaughter get married. He played golf, got to dance with the bride and was even brought up on stage to play drums to a couple of big band standards. He and his wife stayed an extra day to be with his oldest son. When they got home late last night, he said he was tired and went straight to bed. When his wife checked on him at around 4am, he was gone. His time had come.

Life is short. Enjoy it while it's here.

That is sad news Ron. You're in my thoughts. Be strong for Natalie.

Sorry to hear that Ron. Sounds like a good life.

My mom' second husband died at choir practice. A church group of which he had been a member for over 50 years.

In honor of his family, who were commercial fishermen, the church often sings "Will Your Anchor Hold?" (in the sea of life).

We should all be so lucky as to go peacefully, close to the people and activities we cherish.

I am sure there are musicians thinking of the gigs they played with your father-in-law.

Hi ron. My condolences to your familly. It is true people always go too soon. I'd have comfort knowing that he passed easy and comfortable. A rare gift i believe. It sounds as though the man has lived a full life and i'm sure he went to see his ancesters. Stay strong.

Sounds to me as though he had it all worked out and left the party when he was having the best time. Condolences nonetheless, Ron.

So sorry to hear it, Ron. Dijonstock mojo to Natalie, you and yours. It does sound like he had a full life, and a great last weekend.

Thanks for all your kind wishes. It's been a rough 3 days. But with the funeral this past Thursday and a couple of days past, Natalie is coming around and feeling a little better. We still have two more family filled days left at her dad's old home which is now owned my his wife, our "step mom". Then it's pretty much back to life as usual if there is such a thing.
