That's sad to hear. I was a big Deep Purple fan back in the day. I had tickets to see them in Montreal around 1971 or so, and they cancelled. Ten Years After headlined instead. That was still a good show, but I was bummed that I never saw Deep Purple in their hey-day.

Another one I missed! I saw Deep Purple just after David Coverdale took over lead vocals. There were great but I would've liked to have seen the classic Ian Gillian configuration.

I saw the Ian Gillan band in a small Melbourne club years ago. I did not know any of the songs, or like them for.thRu matter. Even so, the band & IG were awesome. that word has been made meaningless these days, but that is what they were.

Saw John mayall in the same place the same year. The band was Mick Taylor
, John McCue & Colin Allen. What a treat !
