Hi..Just got a aw1600 thru the post...I thought all was well until i heard this sound like a cyclical distorted scratch sort of sound you might get from a dirty cd or dusty scratched record...its evident on all out monitor stereo and headphones.left it for a day then switched it back on and itg was alright on all recorded songs ..Then i moved the faders and it came back again...
has anyone experienced anything like this...I ve got another 2 days before i send it back or keep it....
Thanks for yr help..
I thought it might be a duff HD so i formatted it and after recording a few tracks it made no difference..I guess it sounds quite serious/?

Hit the Scene button. Recall the "Initial Data" scene. Run the Red Fader all the way to the top, then to the bottom. ( this "activates" the volume level capability of this fader ) See if this helps. If it doesn't, you may have a dirty fader or pot somewher on the machine.

Are all your wires in good shape. Probably not the wires though if it happens on all outputs, unless of course there is some faulty wire that is common to all three monitoring signals.

Hi,
just an idea:
maybe the faders got some dust or the AW had not been used a longer time. Not sure if the faders are working the analog way. Try to move the faders quickly up and down some times.

Had some scratches yesterday when I used a long time unused channel on my AW2400. Moved the fader some times and all was ok!

Welcome. It the crackling has been resolved then you are ready to rock. The best way to learn is working with the Recording 101 PDF file. You'll be recording in no time.
