Hi! I have an AW16G and I have a drum set, however the microphone that I have is not powerful enough to record the drums in a way that it sounds clear and loud enough. Now, lets say I record a guitar part, a vocals part, and basically everything I need other than a drum part, I export it, and put it on my computer. What I want to do now is get a program that allows me to import the song into it, and as it is playing, I can create my own custom drum beat for the whole song. Anybody have any idea of a good program that i can use????? (the price does not matter)

You can always buy a nice 8 or 16 channel mixer. thenyou feed the outputs of the mixer in to 2 of the G's inputs and pair the inputs. Mic the drums accordingly and then on the mixer, pan each tom and cymbal to your liking. When you record on the G, it is reading the settings you placed through the mixer, provided you paird the G's inputs and recorded the drums on to one of the stereo pairs.

Yeah I actually thought about that but I honestly would much rather do everything on a computer. any suggestions on a program??

Yes you can. Try Cubase LE first if you can get it. Otherwise start with cubase Elements (cheapest but quite powerfull). There is a free trial available from the website. It has a built in drum machine, sampler and synth and several vst's. If you like it you can buy it or upgrade to higher versions.

Do you by any chance know a program/add-on for cubase that would allow me to use my personal computer keyboard as a midi controller?

Sorry 'bout the late reply. Been away for some time and a lot of work lately.

The answer on your question depends on how you want to do that. I can think of five ways.

1. hook up a synth or a keyboard and use the drum map via midi.
2. Find, download and Load a vst drum program to build a loop
3. Download a beat loop and slice it to be used.
4. Get seperate samples and arrange them in cubase so they form a beat.
5. play your sounds live, record and mix them.

Pick your choice and we will try to take it from there.

Going against the grain of all the puritans out there. To overcome drum recording difficulties I use an electronic kit and if necessary dig out me acoustic snare if I'm doing brushes things
