I was at the store last night and just happened by the cheese department.

Something caught my eye that looked good and was reasonably priced, so I grabbed a hunk of Cantal cheese. Never heard of it, and decided to taste it before the obligatory internet search for info. It had a rather strong and unpleasant odor, kind of like a horse barn that isn't cleaned as often as it should be. However, it tastes wonderful. Just had some with my breakfast.

I'll go and see if Kaaspunt has Cantal. I had Auvergne cheeses before, but those were blue cheeses mostly. I don't remember ever having Cantal.

Is it a cheese you'd like to eat pure? Or is it better with bread of maybe toast?

I've just been eating it all by itself. It's pretty tasty for lunch too, but it really does stink.

The blues are still my favorite types, though.
