I own a Line 6 Variax. I think it is a 300--it was the first one they came out with.

I use it for various oddities on my recording. I do like the acoustic models on it. I was wondering if anyone here has used one, and any tips to get the acoustic models to sound better. What EQ and Dynamics settings help this model? Or, any other tips would be helpful.

Thanks!

jeff

My late friend Don had one. I hated the neck but he loved using it to gig with. With it's many tonal possibilities it would be hard to say exactly how to EQ it. My advice is to do what sounds right to you. I'm holding out for a broken one on E-Bay and do a transplant of the electronics into a Fender Tele.

I would say any emulated or even DI only guitar recording calls for an Aural Exciter. The one that ships in the Behringer DSP2024P is good enough to brighten up a DI Ovation, and it's fairly cheap.

The original could only be leased for a lot of money, but nowadays, I think the harmonic exciter algorithm has been cracked. Many companies are releasing their own 'Exciter'

I have a left-handed Variax 500 and there are lots of user patches for this used in conjunction with the workbench software. If you want I could let you have these or at least point you in the right direction to download them.
