A week or two ago, my daughter's lava lamp turned up on the kitchen table without comment. I assumed it needed a new light bulb. A few days later it appeared in my son's room, on and functioning. Apparently it was up for grabs and I missed my opportunity to complete my studio. DOH!

Ouch. That must hurt.

I'm glad you have a special place to get that off of your chest.

Feel better soon.

Just a thought . . . whose house do the kids live in? I believe it's called proprietery property (or something like that).

Just goes to show... Ya snooze Ya lose.

On the bright side you know your son has good taste and will be inspired to keep the lava flowing into yet another generation!

I used to have a glass thermometer in my studio (pretty large and filled with some oil). When it fell of the shelves and emptied itself on my keyboard i got the scare of my life. It has taken ages to get rid of the oil and clean out the keyboard. After that i'm afraid of anything holding liquids near my gear ...

A sample of how they look.

Almost a year later and my son is cleaning out his room. The lava lamp was suddenly in the pile to go to the trash. I snagged it and took it to my studio, but am wondering if I really want it. It just seems like one more piece of junk cluttering up my already cramped quarters. It may wind up in the trash after all, but I thought I'd grab it and at least think about it first.

Am I crazy for possibly not wanting a free lava lamp? :?

I've still got mine, but it has been packed away for safety reasons... our cat thought it looked like a punching bag a gave it a left hook...luckily, I heard the crash...a major fire hazard If there ever was one(well, at least the cheapo one I bought)...

I say keep it unplugged but turn it on when your inspired or need inspiration...

salud!

My wife won't let me have her lamp. Mind you, if it ever falls over and breaks on our polished wood floor, I can't imagine even beginning to repair hot wax damage (and it's red). Having said that, I would like one in the corner of the studio where I would clamp it to a shelf, and certainly not over any gear. I won't even allow coffee in there after a near miss.

That's why I chose to work 78%, I value the time more than the money.
