One word... WOW.

When I compare this to the Antares AVP-1 and the TC Helicon VoiceWorks, this is MUCH easier to use and nearly as good... The cool thing is that there is no pesky programming that needs to be done, you just plug in your guitar and it figures out the harmonies based upon the chords.

The other cool thing that it does is voice modelling. If you want to sound like Prince or more like Hendrix... it does a fairly good job.

I'll try to record something today - with wet and dry vocals - let you be the judge.

I have two Antaries units (mono only) and a Voiceworks. I am very dissapointed in the AVP-1. Yes VW is quirky to use but I got much better results without the AVP-1 mic modeling (cheesy) and the "Cher" effect was always present to some degree no matter how you set it.

If it's better than voiceworks then I may consider it.

Looking forward to the samples.

I returned the unit yesterday. I know, I went from singing it's praises to shoving it back in the box.

You can set a key and the harmonies you want to use if you perform acapella.

But it really wasn't that much different than the Voiceworks. At first I thought some of the voice modelling was cool, until I realized that it was nothing more than pitch shifting and thickening.

The vocal effects and guitar effect were tied in together, so you can't turn them on/off independently. Vocal harmonies can be.

I liked the unit; but it didn't add to what I have to justify the price.

They are coming out with a rack mount version in a couple months - should be less expensive than the voiceworks but comparable in funtionality + the ability to produce accurate harmonies from a guitar or piano without having to use midi although that functionality will be there.

It looks like I bought this in March of last year... hated it... returned it... then went back a year later and bought it again and sang its praises.

How weird is that?

And yes... it works acapella. You take it out of MusIQ mode and actually type in the key that you want to sing in. You can also adjust the scale.

Voiceworks is a tool that has some uses. The optional footswitch is a must have with the thing IMO. One thing VW does really cool is to not only select the scale (even a home made one) but it's ability to sing or play along with a midi sequencer plugged into the midi in port. This allows pitch correction or harmony to be generated by midi reference.(dead on). This one function is why my VW is still in the rack.

Hi,

same MIDI function with the Digitech Live Pro. But it works absolutely correct to trigger the harmonies with pitch correction.

Not good enough for recording IMHO but a nice feature for Live situations if you use it in a decent way let the harmonies mixed in the background only to thicken the lead vocals for the chorus. Thats the way I rarely use it.

BTW: We changed our minds (never wanted to do gigs after the death of 3 band members) and in some weeks we will do our first regular gig after 6 years. Will be the first one with our young handicaped drummer. Yeah

you are nearly right, one hand and one foot are damaged! Seems you have not noticed this, good sign . This is not a problem because you said what we feel: The way Fritzi plays the drums is amazing. No feel of missing something!

Problem could be that the reason of his handicap is that his brain was damaged at a car accident when he was a baby. So when he gets excited, his whole body cramps. But he absolutely wants to play the gig and we others seriously have enough of routine to help him through the songs, if this may happen. Erich could show his comedian ability to give Fritzi time for a break. If the gig went well, Fritzi will be very proud and it would be a great help for his self-confidence!
