This is only a partial review as I've not had time to really horse around with it.

This little device acts as a stereo field recorder with an onboard 4 track machine.
I picked it up primarily for the 4 track capabilities and I have just finished making a quick demo using the 4 tracks.
Very intuitive operation so far.
The playback and monitoring are VERY clean which is great!
I would record each separate track with a different effect chosen from the built in bank of 40 factory presets.
I used reverse guitar, tremelo, arena reverb and a hartke bass mideler for just a regualr guitar track because it was very clean and defined.
These operations were done by using a convenient 1/4 input jack located at the bottom of the device for direct recording.

I can't believe I'm saying this but the effects are much better than the AW16 library.
Much MUCH cleaner and beter set-ups. The default settings are at a very middling ground so usually it's good to go for a quick test drive.

Two complaints so far thoughand these are pretty big:

1.) Either I'm a weakling or they TOTALLY sent me the wrong usb connector because although tiny and seemingly fitted to the output connector, the cable simply does not fit, at all. I'm very pissed because now I can't dump my forst project into the Cubase LE software I just installed on my PC that came with the unit.
And I'm broke so I can't afford the gas to drive and replace it or even visit Radio Shack for that matter. Assholes!

2.) The main funtion/menu directional navigation button is very flimsy. I can see this breaking sooner than later, which sucks because it may last a year and then break, which if it does, your one year warranty is dead.
So, pack a few extra bucks. These sons a bitches don't make it painless to own such a potentially brilliant piece of technology.

I like the H4. I basically use it to dump music out of my AW16G.

Since the only "real" way to get music out of the G is to burn it to disk, I bought the H4 so I could go out of the stereo out into the H4 with a completed stereo track.

The concept behind that is to get a reasonably decent final mix.

I've also experimented with dumping individual tracks, a little creative trimming to get individual tracks into Cubase LE.

Very versitile unit.

Acoustic.

A friend of mine is thinking about buying one. Got any sound samples for us to hear, Joel?

I have an H2 that I use to record band rehearsals. The recordings are very clean. Quite a handy little toy.

they also work perfect for a pair of stereo overheads on a drum kit.
the sky's the limit
