Your song survival rate seems to depend on your knowledge of overdrive or distortion because you will need to effect this machine with such stuff.
the samples are par samples but u can't really edit the sound or anything so it's pretty much preset or die.

there is no option to customize your own kit using the pads provided.
I mean, there is but I haven't figured it out.
If I have to, using a Dr. Sample will be OK.

but just to have a workhorse drum machine, this unit is sturdy enough, the pads are very finger friendly, could be a little bigger, and you can usually get a good enough kick and snare in the same patch.
But the clean sound of it makes it very obvious it's fake(unless you're doing new wave, etc..) so some distortion is in order. or re-recording the tracks with a mic from a set of speax.

the alterative of course is just to be really good at drum machines and everything I said can be ruled away.
