The Digitech GNX4 is a couple things in one bucket:
1) Multi effects pedal
2) Modelling workstation
3) 8 track recorder
4) MP3 player
5) Drum machine
When I was originally looking at multitrack recorders, I honestly looked that the GNX4 hard. I opted for the 16G because the GNX4 only records to compact flash and with that, a 2 gig max card. For $600 (what I bought my G for when it was first discontinued) I didn't think it was worth it.
The GNX4 series was discontinued this month and the Guitar Centers that still have them are liquidating them at about $175.
It's pretty cool to use it as a writing tool. Then... when it's time do the full recording on the G. It's kind of cool to be able to start, stop, punch in/out with your feet.
