hey folks, can anyone tell me what the unit is that makes that "whaka whaka whaka" sound that you'll hear in some funk tunes? Is it an auto wah?
thanks,
Mike

a wah pedal like a Cry Baby.

auto-wah is similar and usually runs on auto cycle or by note amplitude, but a pedal lets you control it to suit the nuances of your music like an auto-wah never could. a wah pedal is a must for any funk guitarist

yea, I'm a wah pedal user for sure, but this seems like it's a different sound, can't think of an example other than shaft songs

Shaft and all that stuff was likely your basic CryBaby wah...
The auto wah on my little boxes seems to be tied to how hard you hit the strings...as you attack harder, it opens up the treble as opposed to stepping on the wah pedal to open the treble.
