Leo , I use PE-6.24 (or whatever  ) , PE-7 is still about $500 streat price. I bought PE-6
on ebay for about $150. The major apparant differences are only functional. Handier midi functions (BOTH ! ways........midi read and write , thank you) on PE-7. The surround sound and video production side of PE-7 has been reported as magnificent.

PE-7 studio might be another option , or even PE-6 studio. It'll still be the best bargain you ever got on recording gear.

I darn forgot how to record in Sonar.....just going through this Sonar 7 trial version and already pulling my all grey hair out. I may need to bug you again and again Geno.
I would want the Sonar 7 version soon and hoping to get a good deal on the upcoming Sonar 8 version.

Remember I always wanted to look over your shoulders.........................     8) :x

Hit the red record button to arm the tracks you want to record on. (or use the button at the bottom of the track window which arms/disarms), then hit R which starts the recorder. If you got everything patched right in the inputs .........off ya go. Watch them meters. I set mine to 12db full scale nowdays instead of default 24db. Easier to read.

I am trying to record from the SONG menu on the ES. In Sonar 3 I could see all the ES configurations (Bank, VOICE etc) right in the midi track I selected, made my selection and off it went. I can't yet figure out how this works in Sonar 7.

It can be done several ways. In the synth track view you can change patches . Patch , bank and midi channel parameters can also be done in the track inspecter window. Another way if the synth is VST , then you can select patches and banks within the VST synth window on the upper left corner. Sometimes you must make your patch changes on the Synth GUI display itself. You can also just record the audio direct outa the ES stereo outs to a pair of channels in 6. I'm sure 7 is not any different. Another way is to record direct to a midi track and assign whatever synth , bank , patch , performance , song mode or whatever you want.

If 7 has half the help section 6 does , you'll be up an running confidently in a couple of weeks.
