Mortality looms...always will for me...

Anyway, with the recent death of Bowie and the imminent passing of other influential musicians on the horizon... it got me thinkin'...

So, I'm starting a thread for no other reason than its on my mind:

Here's a few artists that I think have had quite a bit of impact on my musical life. What albums do you like the best from each? Of course, there are no right or wrong answers, just opinions, and I'd love to hear them... feel free to add more artists.

(The exercise is impossible of course, but big fun

I will start with four :)

Simon and Garfunkel: Bookends

Neil Young: Everybody knows this is nowhere

The Kinks: Schoolboys in Disgrace

Mott the Hoople: Mott

Salud!

Pink Floyd: Dark Side of the Moon
Frank Zappa: Apostrophe
Jimi Hendrix: Are you Experienced
Steely Dan: Asia
Led Zeppelin: 4
Elton John: Goodbye Yellow Brick Road

That's a good start.

Love it...

  Guess I didn't explain very well, or at all for that matter... I wanted people to post their favorites based on the four that I listed (even if they didn't care for the band), then add more of their own for the next poster etc etc...  Byron kinda got it right...

So, I will have a go at RZ's list:

The Beatles: Revolver
Pink Floyd: Wish You Were Here
Frank Zappa: Apostrophe
Jimi Hendrix: Are you Experienced
Steely Dan: Katy Lied
Led Zeppelin: zero
Elton John: Tumbleweed Connection

who's next?

I enjoy finding out about music that was influential for others and that I had heard of before, but never really took the time to go and listen...this kickstarts me into action.... many thanks.

Guess I will reenter the fray and comment on a few from Byron's list:

Gordon Lightfoot - Lightfoot
Simon and Garfunkel - Bookends
The Who - Live at Leeds
Neil Young - Harvest
The Doobie Brothers - The Captain and Me---a guilty pleasure of mine!
Stan Rogers - ? need to listen!

edit: didn't really change anything 'cept The Who

Bok - I posted a file to the File Exchange section, with a sample song of Stan Rogers. There are many from which to choose, but most all tell stories.

Too many to mention but it's all because of the Beatles' first 2-3 albums.
