After a conversation with I forget who, maybe Byron, regarding gain structure, I just remembered I had this link, maybe useful.

A good general reference, I'd say. Perhaps for GS and other searching newbies, this could be billed as recording 201.

On the subject of GS ( from another thread if you end up reading this later), I was interested to note that recording 101 was suggested to him, early in the thread. Out of curiosity, from where did that document come? It was perhaps posted on the former site?

I`m not too sure to be honest Byron, it was just with a load of other stuff I`ve collected over the years, I just came across it again this morning, someone somewhere is always gonna find stuff like that interesting and hopefully helpful.
Enjoy the rest of your day.

I was referring to the origins of the often recommended "recording 101" on the docs page of this site. Your contribution could be "recording 201".

I agree, quick re-reads of this sort of guide helps, usually leading to confirmation of practice and occasionally to an "aha" moment.

It is a pdf directly from Yamaha and still resides there to this day. (Be careful about mentioning things like GS and other silliness in the presents of mr mac. He's serious!)

Are you saying you are older than Ron? He's our oldest (and wisest) member. At his age it is wonder that he even remembers how to turn the machine on. I hope I'm going as strong at 101.

Well I'm retiring in a couple of months. I'm only 55 but I'm gonna get out of the rat race so to speak. travel a bit more.
we've paid the house off, so I've no worries on that score. Just looking forward to record ing even more than I do now. :)

I think that honor belongs to the original mobile G-man, Hogtime...(not that you are not old and wise too, RZ :) )

Although HogTime may be old and wise, no, let me rephrase that, although HogTime is old and wise, this guy is even older. The age in his profile is his actual age:

Despite his honourable age, Ron Daks is a modern man with an open mind towards modern technology. And a real nice guy too!

I thought for sure that RZ was the oldest!!!!

Not really. He just got off the road from a long career as a touring rock drummer.

No one, at 101, could stand the pace he kept.

..... But then there are Mick and Keith ????

I do recall talking on the telephone, helping someone, that i met here, to learn about how navigate and work with files on his 1600. He turned out to be an octogenarian too, living in NYC. After that phone session that guy went to the trouble to find, via telephone, the Liquor Store, in my small town. this was no small feat, as liquor, wine and beer (in Ontario, Canada) is only sold in Government owned and operated stores. He teamed up with the store clerk (an older fellow who I did not know at the time) and he purchased for 6 bottles of very nice wine (that the clerk selected for him). Then the clerk, armed only with my name, found me (easily through the phone book i suspect) and he delivered the goods to my door, in a big pail, with celophane gift wrap. what a surprise!

I hope he got his recording done. His children had bought the machine for him, in hopes he would record his guitar playing for them to keep. That was about 5 years ago, I think.
