my first message. I've had the 2400 for a few years now but have only just discovered this forum. I was curious to read here that the latest firmware is 1.13 because I installed 1.15 in 2007. I had a note of this but just checked the hardware by pressing the utility button immediately after the Yamaha logo shows on firing up and sure enough that's what I have. Yet even doing a Google search the only firmware update link I can find is for 1.13, dated 2006. This probably doesn't matter but I read elsewhere that if I wish to change the hard disk I would have to load up the OS again, with firmware 1.13. Any thoughts on this would be interesting, not least if 1.15 turns out to have had issues and been withdrawn in favour of the earlier version.

Do you have any idea of fixes or utilities available in you 2007 1.15 that would go beyond the 1.13? You are the first person to ever mention this on this forum i think.

No I don't, I'm afraid. It's all rather surprising to me too. I made a written note at the time, September 2007, of this update, v1.15, along with something called a boot o/s v1.02. More than this I know not!

perhaps the 1.15 was a transcribing error at the time you made the handwritten note-to-self ???

Welcome. In order to attach a photo from your computer, you first need to load it on to one of the free photo sites. I use Photobucket or some such nonsense. Once uploaded, you can right click on the photo, copy image location, come back here to your post and click the image link above, paste it in between the html codes and then preview the message to be sure it's there. A lot of work I know, but it saves Robbie from purchasing alot of data for the site. Give it a shot.

Also, I just did a quick search over on the Yamaha site. They show the latest firmware for the AW2400 as version 1.13.

I've tried to load the photo by following your instructions but the best I've been able to manage is this link to the picture on flickr. As you will see it is very definitely 1.15 so there's a mystery for us.

Hello waterden,

Interesting! As Yamaha only has version 1.13 as most recent version. I would love to have the 1.15 version. Is it possible for you to mail me the 1.15 firmware?

The firmware of the AW2400 is saved on the harddisk (and not into memory; that's why you have to install the firmware as soon as you replace your harddisk).

- Just put your AW2400 into USB mode
- Connect to your AW2400 with your PC using the USB cable
- Go on your computer to the AW2400-1 drive
- Copy the file AW2400PG.BIN file to your computer

I will send you a PM for my e-mailaddres.

If other people are interested, I can publish the firmware in a link for download.

Greetings,

Robert

Hi Robert, if that firmware becomes available for download I'd love to have a copy to put on the website's "docs page".

I have only been able to find a sys.bin file and not a pg.bin file in this folder. However, for what it may be worth I have emailed it to Robert.

Thanks. I've analyzed the file. With 32KB it was expected to be too small for containing the OS. The AW2400_SYS.BIN file contains personal settings (custom libraries like track settings, EQ settings, effect settings, etc.).

There was a chance that the firmware file could be found there as one of the procedures to update the AW2400 is to place the .BIN file in the root of the AW2400-1 disk using USB mode and powercycle the AW2400. But it seems that the OS installer installs itself on a different location on the disk that is not available in USB mode.

I don't know if the AW2400 harddisk can be read on a PC. I have just changed the harddisk with an SSD. I will take the old original IDE harddisk to my work to investigate the disk using an IDE <=> USB converter. Just curious what type of format it is.

Anyhow....in spite of the results of my research, we can't expect waterden to disassemble the harddisk out of his AW2400 to extract the firmware for us.

Phew, that's a relief #-o Sorry couldn't be of more assistance. The mystery remains!
