Managed to get the SSD working with same converter as OP used :) or same circuit layout.
Recorder working well so far, now I just need to sort a fan mod!

Over the last months I have been using the SSD and while the machine did work faster and was 100% silent with my fan mod on I kept getting random crashes atleast once a day, usualy on import or export. In the end I gave up and put in a 2.5" laptop HDD. So the poblem was with the SSD or how the adapter or Yamaha interact with the SSD

Did anyone have success with a SSD ?

Thanks
Riki

Hello!

I did the SSD upgrade a couple years ago. My version isn't as elegant: I cloned the AW1600 hard drive to an SSD, hooked it up with a converter/adapter and then duct-taped it in place! (It's inside so no one's the wiser!) It's been working great--fast and reliably--no crashes (Yet! Phwew!) I've got my songs backed-up, though, just in case. The duct tape's holding nicely but the recorder sit in my studio and doesn't go traveling around! All said and done, it took about 20 minutes....

:D lol thats great, is that on a AW1600 then or the AW2400 also just wondering what SSD your using, another thought I just had maybe my crashing issue is to do with the file cluster size you never know.

Hey all

So I managed to get another AW2400
I would like to try this SSD upgrade again for silent machine, Issue is last time the machine would crash on saving songs at times and just freeze.
This time my idea is to try an Msata SSD and a different IDE to SATA converter..
Any ideas ?

Cheers

Ok so I updated the internal IDE hard drive with a IDE to Sata converter and installed the new OS onto SSD and encounter problems again exporting/importing tracks (recorder crashes frozen screen) this problem was isolated to the SSD not the IDE-Sata converter.
As I then installed the OS onto a small laptop Sata drive and it works fine.

For some reason the AW2400 does not like SSD drives... Any thoughts ?

Wish I could help, but I can't. I follow this thread with interest though.

Thankyou
Much apreciated ... I have put in a laptop hard drive (quieter) with success and the only issue is the odd disk busy message.

Maybe there is a better idea :)
