Can anyone give me some tips on getting my AW2400 to communicate with my pc?

I am using ez drummer for my drums which sounds great and I have been recording the analog signal into the aw2400. However I would like to set the two devices up to communicate through midi but I have found the manual a little confusing. can someone help with some simple steps??

I have a pair of 4416's and a 16G so I may not be muc help. I do have EZ Drummer lite (cool program) in my VST folder in Sonar 6 PE. I can make any midi connection I want between either my keyboard , sequencer , or computer except.......
midi remote control of the Yamaha transport controls of the hardware recorders because of some midi bug in PE 6. Not knowing what computer sequencer you are using my answer will be of a general nature.

Drag and drop the midi file name from the instrument variations pane into the sequencer at the beat / measure desired.

Monitor the sequencer to test if the drums tracks sound right from the computer.

Connect a midi cable from the computer's midi out to the Yamaha's midi in.

Set up the sequencer's midi out to master

Set up the Yamaha to midi slave.

The Yamaha should follow the sequencer's transport commands.

Set up the Yamaha to record the sequencer's EZ Drummer audio track you verified in step 2.

Record the audio from the computer to the Yamaha.

If everything is set up right you should now have a drum track to build on.

Hope this shines a little light on your problem.

MSG

PS. Remember the Yamaha only transmits and recieves CC messages and not note data so all midi / audio conversion must be done in the host computer programs first.

Might pay to look at the midi implimitation charts in the Yamaha and host programs to see what is allowed.

Many thanks, I've got it sort of working....

In Answer to your question I am using Sonar 6 LE.

The only problem I am getting is that if I set a marker or location point I can't get the 2400 or Sonar to sync?? any ideas ???

It is in sync from the start and I have got around the location point by recording the drums and then undertaking the rest of my tracking, it would be nice to sync it in so that I didn't need to do this.

Thanks
