has anyone got a zoom h4?
heres the spec page on it
http://www.electronicadirect.com/inside ... id=1008159

i'm just curious if i could take a stereo mix of a song, load it into two tracks of the zoom and then bring the zoom with me to another location and record two tracks of vox overthe stereo tracks and then separately mix each track back down to my yamaha aw16?

I have an H2 and I'm pretty sure I can't do it. Cinda has an H4. Hopefully she'll check in.

Looking at the specs, the H4 has 4 tracks and two inputs. What would be the purpose of having 4 tracks when it could NOT do what you want. Or I must be missing something. Cindaaa....

this is true, robbie.
my main concern would be that i could bring each track out of the H4 and put it to my AW16G.
without the computer pitstop as i dont use computers for music really.
I'm hoping a wav file can be taken by the G, which I think it can and then "extracted"?? to 4 separate tracks onto the g for boosting/mixing, etc..

this is why I am thinking of upgrading.
my stuff has always been vocal driven but never had vocals only music that needed them.
this would give me the oppurtunity to record the stereo guide into the h4 and have 2 tracks for vocals in my car, parked, with a nice piece of scenery in front of me!! =P~

and then of course exported from the h4 directly to my beautiful yamaha G. (providing each track from the h4 can translate into 4 separate tracks to the G.)

The H4 can do that. It stores it's data on an SD card which is in WAV of MP3 format. So, put the SD card in your PC, write it on a CD and import it on the G.

You can find tons of info here: http://www.2090.org/zoom/bbs/viewforum.php?f=15&sid=7ac7b39d81369b81ba8f8102c957434f. There's also a link to the manual.
