Hi guys,
I need a mic for kick drum, sax, vox, and Gt/bass cabs.

I have a pair of SP C1's a CAD Trion 8000 (modded) a TL Audio classic C1 mic pre/comp all going into my AW2400.

Any recomendations for studio use would be sweet.
I have not set myself a price yet so if you could give me two or three priced options your views and experiences would be of huge use.

Thanx in advance,
FTI

It's a bit pricey but I've heard that the EV RE20 is excellent on all of these.

the RE20 is indeed a dandy mic, but it requires a good bit of clean pre to make it happen.

Unfortunitly I have had very little opertunity to try my TLAudio C1 with other mics. So my question is do you think its up for the job?

I personaly think the classic range is great but I do not know any dealers that have RE20/27nd that I can try with my pre.

Any insight would be great.

the C1 is a compressor isn't it?

the RE20 is a dynamic mic not condenser so that's why you need a preamp that can offer lots of clean gain. it's frequency response is ultra flat so you want to experiment with different eq settings for different applications - or leave it flat if that's what you like.

The C1 is a comp AND pre.

well i can't offer wisdom of the gods on this subject.
i like the re20, but with my limited hands-on with really good preamps i wouldn't send you skipping down the road with a bag full of beans from my experience.
i believe it will fill the bill re your original question (gimme all purpose) and then some.
it is a well constructed mic.
if your C1 has a gain control and an output control and you don't get all hissy when you boost you might be happy.

Tested and working great with my TLA C1 and 2400.
