Also I am having a problem at my local buskers night with my cedarwood love flute.
As soon as we try for any serious volume or rich reverb it feeds back would it be worth taking my RE27 (the only dynamic mic I have) ?

I too have read Bob Katz book, and own a copy. It is a handy reference, covering sonic theory and issues. bob's is a strong voice decrying the "loudness war" in which the commercial music production business has become engaged. He is known best for his ability as a mastering engineer, I believe. He seems able to integrate his subject matter in a way that helps understand the total picture of what is going on. it took a couple of reads for me. Not sure what platform he favours now, but he was a Sonic Solutions guy. he still shows up now and again on a forum of Sonic Solutions users that I look at. that forum is quite technical, and SS specific. Bob's contributions are always direct, and right to the point.
