I couldn't decide where to post this.....

Drivel and Non Musical topics came to mind at first but not quite right. Its not funny and while not directly involved in making music - music shall thrive and reverberate within and around it.

Related Equipment....its not "equipment" per se but vital to the end use and protection of said equipment.

Its brand spaknin new and by far the most expensive purchase I have ever made......

Bigger than a bread box yet smaller than a stadium may I present to you

(drum roll please)

CASA DE SCOOTER!

I like the fact that the door to the studio section of your new home is sooo wide. That will help loading equipment in and out.

Does that mean you are buying or bringing?

I had hoped for finding one in a more wooded area with an unfinished "theater" room that I was going to run lots of electrical lines, acoustic treatments, islolate the floor and walls from the studs with vibration absorbers and soundproofing that could be used as a home theater room if I ever sold it.

Crazy as it sounds none of the realtors or builders around here have home recording studios anywhere on their most wanted list or even a standard option.

You used to be able to buy a custom home with an unfinished room that did not count against your square footage and after you finished it out your home value shot up and until you sold the house the taxable value stayed at the original square footage.

Most builders won't do that any more due to safety code changes and if some one really mucked up an otherwise good looking home it could reflect badly on the builders reputation and business.

The only downside on this one is everything is so new and pretty I don't think I could bring myself to alter any of the built in walls. I suppose I will have to make any diffusors etc self standing and portable.

To pull this off and pay the required but unjust (considering the circumstances) 1/2 equity (wich was the only thing she could not spend but managed to put a dent in due to leaving no funds for cosmetic maintanance etc) I will have to borrow from my 401K but at least the interest I pay goes back to me. All of the combined equity on my current one is going down on that one so I can put 20% down and avoid the additional cost of Mortgage Protection Insurance.

I did consider going more fixer upper for the dedicated studio/theater construction but all my previous rentals and my current house were built when energy was cheap and insulation was minimal.

These are so well insulated that they guarantee your utility costs and have this radiant heat reflective sheeting under the shingles that reflects most of the heat in the summer from getting your house hot in the first place so its efficient and green friendly.

I don't close till around July 20th but I have it under contract.

Thanks for all the well wishes. Recovery continues and I am free to breathe freely again for the most part.

Fresh air is good but I still hate that the kids had to go through that.

Who wants two formal dining rooms?

Who would even want one formal dining room? I like DC & Sharons dining model where it's all about enjoyment and not a single ceremony to stand upon :)

Aye - no formal dining in my homes either. Bunch of wasted pretensious space IMHO. I just couldn't believe how many homes actually had a formal dining and formal living area.....

I think I just found another oxymoron - "Formal Living"

Lets see if I can post the floor plan.......save GIF, open with Picassa...no JPEG option.....open with MS Paint save as .JPG should work.

*Disclaimer

The advertisements associated with pics using Imagevenue on my posts do not reflect the views of one Scooter B. The ads and links only appear if you click on the thumbnails for the full screen view.

Okay they ask ME if my post is safe for work and they THEY stick links to pornsites when hosting MY images.....

I don't want to know what is not safe for work cuz those links would get me fired faster than those girls get their clothes off (assuming they own some LOL).

I really am or endeavor to be a non judgemental person what consenting adults do in their own home is their own business but I also don't want to contribute to leading anyone astray who has fought their way out of addiction to pornography etc either.

Just a disclaimer not a sermon - I promise but I would like to find another hosting site free of porn advertisements or links if anyone has any recomendations.

I wouldn't mind finding one as well. I'm not offended by the links in the least, but don't care to subject others to them.

Cool floor plan. Is that a walk-in pantry in the kitchen? Basement? I'm a bit of a house geek - love looking at floor plans and such. Don't know why.

Yeah, get to planting some trees, if not for yourself then for those down the road. My neighborhood is going on 40 years old, and on some streets people planted a lot of trees when they first moved in. On others (uh, mine), they didn't. The difference is pretty amazing. The old people on my street seem hell bent on cutting down what few trees there are.

Thanks JM and Geno for the link.

Not too many basements in Oklahoma City. Seems we have a high water table and so many of them if not all of them leaked badly and most builders and hpme owners gave up on them for this area.

I did contact a guy I read about in the paper that specialized in basements for this area and guaranteed them to be leak proof, emphsized how it was cheaper per square foot for construction and for heating/cooling plus I thought I might be able to get away with an unfinished basement 1/2 studio and 1/2 year round workshop. Unfortunately his houses start in the 4,000 square foot area and are out of my price range big time.

There is a large kitchen pantry but the walk in between the garage and the living area is in the utility room and is a walk in. The master bedroom walk in closet is HUGE!
