I have "The Mixing Engineers Handbook" by Peter Owsinski (sp?). It is a pretty good primer on the basics of mixing (arrangement, EQ, panning, effects, etc.). I think he also wrote companion volumes on recording (tracking) and mastering, although I've not seen them.

I also have the Mixing Engineer's Handbook, by Bobby Owsinski, as well as his Recording Engineer's Handbook, and found both to be quite useful.

But don't overlook "our" sources here at the forum. I've downloaded many VERY useful publications, including "The ABC's of AKG: Microphone Basics and Fundamentals of Usage" the "Equalization Primer" from Recording Engineer's Quarterly, and the articles on EQ, Compression, and Mixing from "Cloneboy at Homerecording.com.

Currently, I am reading the download of the "Home Studio Guide" by Don Robertson, which is has some neat compression techniques that were used by Motown to get that "hot" vocal sound

A lot of these "downloads" have been as good as or even better than some of the books I've seen at the local bookstores.

I really like "The Art of Mixing" by David Gibson. It comes as a book or DVD and is kind of expensive but REALLY helped me to learn to 'visualize' how I want a mix to sound before I ever start pushing faders, panning, EQ'g, or anything. Gibson teaches you to picture all of the instruments in a 3-dimensional way so that you are clear about where each sound should be placed in the stereo field and how EQ can be adjusted so that each instrument sits approprietaly in the mix yet work together to create sonic movement. I've had excellent results using his approach.

Got myself "Mixing Workshop" by german producer Uli Eisner some time ago. There's a CD coming with the book which is quite nice... I can't compare his knowledge to others though... but I kinda liked the hands-on approach.

I thought Dutch people could speak just about all European languages... Having said that I know that the English (and me in particular) are really lazy when it comes to learning languages

As far as I know, there isn't. But I thought with your knowledge about the german language you wouldn't have too big a problem to follow through . And besides... all the tech-lingo is english anyway... so it's just a matter of "Raise the Fader up to 0dB vs. Schieben Sie den Fader auf 0dB".

I could mp3 you the CD... but you'll lack the written - more extensive - stuff.
