Hi guys,

I've been rather quiet lately. That is because I've been busy rebuilding the studio. I removed all electricity: lamps, power sockets, tubes, wires, everything. And redid it according to my wishes. Works well. I'm now applying a rather thick layer of insulation on the ceiling, some kind of rock wool. I'm covering that with wood boards, including six dimmable led lights in two separate groups. It's a lot of work but it is kind of fun. More so because everyone thinks I'm rather clumsy but it's all working anyways.

The garage door will be replaced by a full size pane with a door. We ordered that last week so I hope within a week or three, we'll get rid of the old door which is a huge thermal hole. All in all it should be a lot comfier in the studio and there should be more light as the garage door has no glass but the pane obviously has.

I'll post a few pics later.

Thanks Byron! It has been quiet, so I hope I can finish this project soon and start making some noise.

Yeah Rockwool slabs are the best things to use, still pays to be wearing a mask of sorts to stop you breathing any crap in.
Look forward to see the finished space.

I made a hatch for in the ceiling. It's purpose is to close the (thermal) hole that gives access to the attic above the studio. I made it a few mm too big, so I had to use a hammer to get it into place. I can't get it out anymore...

I know what I did wrong so I'll do it again tomorrow... properly. :)

Sorry to hear 'bout the health... Not to moan and groan, but I've been having some back problems myself... scoliosis. and age. I can't even hold a Les Paul for more than 15 minutes... guess I'll have to get a hollow body  ...hmmm... Now if I only had the dough...Other than that doing alright... my folks are battling health issues--dad just entered hospice, but that's a story for another thread some day.

Sorry to hear about your family mate. I hope things get better soon.
As for the hollow body I think I've got one. Feels like it.

Hey Robbie ! So you are finally following my advice ( as if ;-) ). Great project. I hope to be invited into your studio (when it's finished) so you can record my version of 'Echoes in the dark'.

Good luck with the project. I started with quite a rebuild myself. I hope you won't recognized the house on your next visit !

Dirk, you don't need an invitation. Synchronizing our schedules would be pragmatic, though. :)

There is still a little work that needs to be done on the ceiling. Tomorrow the weather is bad so I'll probably have time to take care of that. And the garage door must be replaced by the pane. We ordered the pane two weeks ago so an email can be expected any moment to make an appointment for installing.

When it's all done, we'll have a studio warming party. Yes! With cheese!

Looking good, Robbie. It seems like just yesterday that you cleaned the place out and painted it purple. :)

Has the garage door been replaced by the pane yet?

You have a strong memory, John, that was 10 years ago. Still have the pics. The walls are still purple and baby blue. :)

Not yet. They planned to do that on June 15th, so, more than two weeks ago. That morning I went to work while I saw their van with a trailer containing the pane. A few hours later in my break I went home to see how they were doing... and saw nothing. Ria told me the pane fell of the trailer and was damaged, so they had to order a new one. And that's how far it is now - we're waiting for them to notify us when they're ready for a second attempt.

Bummer about the broken pane. I hope they get it together soon.
