Hey all..

Looking at this...

https://www.carvinguitars.com/products/ ... oduct=H400

Nice 4 channel headphone amp. Price looks damn good!

Question: It says you'll be able to adjust your own signal over the mix via A and B inputs. So 1 input for your signal, and the other for the mix, correct? But I only have the Aux 1/2 outs or the Monitor outs from the AW16G. Does this mean I'd need a feed from each players signal, and then one from the stereo mix, for each of the four channels??

If so, I'm thinking the 16G doesn't have seperate outs. Would I need a mixer to take advantage of this feature? This is exactly what I want us to be able to do while we're jammin...but I still want us to be able to record while playin so the signals to the 16G would have to remain constant.

the more I think, the more my head hurts!!

thanks for reading this...hope someone can help :?

bh

Hi bhmann.
That link didn't work, I guess it is H400 U're talking about.
I can see H400 can input 2+1 independent stereo or mono sources, so to get max out of your AW16G make set-up like this:

- G stereo monitor mix MONITOR OUT L/R to H400 inputs A L/R
- set G's first AUX on STEREO/AUX L out to H400 B left OR front panel AUX IN for individual phones 1
- set G's second AUX out on STEREO/AUX R out to H400 B right OR front panel AUX IN for individual phones 2

H400 is very flexible, these are just few possible combinations. It all depends on number of performers, monitor sources etc. U don't need another mixer, H400 looks like good phones mixer.

If U don't want to use G monitor outs exclusively for phones, U can split signal (2xY cable) and still use your monitor speakers at the same time. In this situation rec musicians have choice of 3 different sources (stereo and 2x aux) in phones, and also "control room man" still gets his usual stereo monitor on speakers.

From time to time I've used one of these:
http://www.rolls.com/product.php?pid=PM50s

You plug your mic in and it passes that signal along to the recorder. You also plug the headphone output of the recorder into this box and your headphones. A knob allows you to adjust the mix of the two signals, so you can get the desired amount of "you" in the mix (hard to do with the recorder knobs sometimes).

If you aren't using a mic, this place has many products at reasonable prices and probably has what you want.
