Hi folks,
Thinking about upgrading from the G to the 2816.
Is there a noticeable improvement in sound quality?
Looking forward to learned colleagues opinions.
cheers,
Trevor

I think the 2816 was a great machine, although I have only read about them. They had certain limitations however. I think that you would be wise to investigate fully, t make sure the machine will do what you want. hard drive size was limited, and i do believe there is only one stereo track ( no virtuals) and there is no computer connection. You don't see them for sale all that often.

I don't know much about the 2816. However, you would be well served to locate a deal on an AW1600. As mentioned, you would get the USB connectivity. My guess is you'd get a bigger hard drive.

Good luck with your choice.

hey trevor,
take a step further and go for the 4416 ..
they are readily availiable on the used market and are very good for the money.
i have had mine for about 2 years and i am still amazed by the quality and features of this console....i.e. automix, 2 built in efx engines, 6 auxes for monitor mixes, flying faders etc...
i was able to locate another 4416 for an associate for $400 ... he loves it also.
some things to think about :
be sure to upgrade the original harddrive to a bigger capacity as the oem is approx 12 gig .
you will also need to have an outboard 8 channel preamp with an adat card ( or 2 ) to fully realize the channel capacity (24 inputs).
goodluck ... you are not alone
