I finally decided with help from some of you guys to get an AW1600 which I am pleased with (thanks). I use the USB to back up files to my computer. I have tried backing up by simply dragging the file to a directory on my computer from AW1600_1 or _2, then deleting it from the AW1600 and then reloading it on the AW1600 which works fine . My two questions are :
1. What is the purpose of the transport folder ?
2. Why is the harddrive partitioned into two allowing some of my songs to go on one partition and some to go on the other partition without getting the choice. ?
Thanks in advance for any replies
Dave

My guess... and this is only a guess, is to prevent fragmentation.

Most people work on two songs at a time. By having them on different partitions, you get less fragmentation.

Dave,

1. The songs original track data is stored as 32 bit depth and doesn't work with external software or CD players! By exporting the tracks the AW makes the exported track 16 or 24 bits so it works with other software and CD players (only 16 bit)!

2. As noted before, to prevent fragmentation. Although the AW works under Linux this won't be happening very soon i suppose.

Good luck...
