hey, im having trouble with the sound im getting once i burn my recordings to a disc. when the music is on the recorder its evenly panned so it sounds really good, but when i play it as a disc...the sound is way more dominant to one speaker...and barely anything is comingout of the other. also the sound is really really low and i have no idea why.

It almost sounds mono here. Way too much bottom and the vocals are buried. Pretty muddy here too.

I like the Zep style. Put the bass in the middle along with the kick with one slightly off center. Bring the vocals up and try to fiqure out how to get those lows to not be muddy. EQ will be your best friend here as a little compression on the vocals. Remember to do the final panning during the mixdown.

You have something to work with.

Sorry about the slow reply , I had a rough day.

When you do your mixdown prior to buring the CD , use the pan controls on each instrument track to set up a stereo field for your listeners.

Likewise you can use the EQ controls (fancy tone control) for each channel you recorded separately. Adjust them so the bass doesn't cover up the drum kick or the guitar's frequency's overlap the vocals.

Seems like there is a recording 101 topic in the newby section. It's a good read.

"Mud or Muddy" means the a lot of the frequencys are covering each other up.

It's definitely left dominant. It's not only left though there is something in the right.

It sounds okay on the G yes?

When you burn it to disk where are you then playing that?

How are you monitoring?

If your monitoring is unbalanced left to right then you may have mixed this unbalanced to compensate.

You say it sounds fine on the G, how are you listening to it on the G, headphones? Active speakers? Amp and speakers?

And if you plug those headphones into your computer and play the mp3 you posted does it sound okay then, as I suspect there may be a problem with the headphones and you are mixing to account for it?
