Hey all!

I've been using my AW1600 to mix and record live shows for the past few years, then importing the WAVs to Cubase. Recently I made the switch to Logic and am having issues importing my 24bit WAVs. 16bit work absolutely fine, though when importing the AW1600's 24bit stems, Logic will duplicate the track in the file it's coming from (with extension "-24b.WAV") and then play the track back full of distortion and constant peaking.

Any ideas what the problem is? Anyone else experienced the same? I'm hoping there's just something to change in Preferences but so far I've not found it!

Thanks in advance for any help! (Oh and if you want to have a listen to some of my AW1600 recordings of Ellie Goulding, Newton Faulkner, Frank Turner way back when, they're up here - https://soundcloud.com/earmusic/sets)

Hi Joe, welcome to the forum!

I can't really help with the problem, but I think one would expect Logic to support 24 bit recording/processing. I know in some software packages this feature is hidden as if they did that on purpose. Maybe someone will come along who can help you finding it.

Hi Joe, is the song your trying to bring the wav files into definitely a 24bit song ? because their will be an option for 16bit or 24bit.
I don`t use Cubase so can`t help you with settings, but I`m sure someone else with chip in shortly.
Good luck.

Wish i could help out, but i am interested in this thread, so will watch for the ideas of others. Keep us posted.

Is this question based on a single experience, or has the phenomenon occurred repeatedly?

Hey all - thanks so much for the replies - hope I can get to the bottom of it!

Just to confirm, I used to use Cubase, in which these 24bit stems worked absolutely fine - but now having switched to Logic, this problem has arisen.

T.Mac, I've tried searching for a 16/24bit interchangeable option within Logic, but there doesn't seem to be one. The only option I can find is "Record 24bit" which I have selected. And Byron, yep, it's the same with any 24bit stems that I try to import.

I guess I'm hoping someone on this forum has used their AW1600 to record, before importing to Logic like I am, and has found the same and hopefully a solution! Guess I can always just record 16bit on the AW1600, as they work fine in Logic, but it'd be nice to get to the bottom of the problem if possible!

Thanks in advance for any more help and I'll report back if I make any more progress elsewhere!

Greetings. I really don't know much about all this, but . . . I figured someone somewhere on the ole google might know. Not even sure if this will help, but perhaps it might make sense to you in some form. https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3798005

I record 24bit on the AW1600 and export to Studio One and Pro Tools that`s why I feel it`s down to a setting in Logic somewhere, as both of the software I use have settings that enable or disable Wav file import.
Have you tried copying these files to a different location for import, maybe there is a specific folder they have to be in before it allows you to do it.

You`ve probably already come across this in your search but I thought I`d post a link incase you have`nt.
