I used to have an AW16G. My group recorded quite a bit of material on it.However, for reasons out of my control,I no longer have possession of the machine.I do have a few backup discs that contain songs I would like to hear and possibly edit sound wise. Is there a program available that will open the files on these discs without me having to buy another AW16G.I would like to have another just cant afford it right now. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

Yes there is. I believe it is even posted on the docs page of this website. It is called awextract. It can extract the wav files for the 16G and the 2816. There are a few requirements for the backup but it should be possible. If you can't find its ocation give me a yell and i'll post a link.

Dirk, I believe he said he didn't have the funds at this time.

I think you need to save the backups as a 2816 file.

Awextract can only be used on 2816 format backups. For original aw16g format backups it's useless. There's a guy on this forum however that made a program to decypher an aw16g backup. He called the program Gee Audio. Do a search on this forum abd I'm sure you'll find it.

oops! you are right RZ. But still, a second hand just may be in his reach. Sometimes they come cheap. I bought my first one for only 100 australian dollars. It did need a new harddisk but at that price ...
