Is the AW1600 still being made? While I see that several dealers have units in stock, I also notice Musician's Friend has it on clearance and Zzounds no longer carries it. Just curious.

Out of production - get 'em while they last.

That's too bad. Sorry to hear. Does Yamaha plan to replace it with something else? I can't find any news or announcements online.

Yes that is too bad. We suspect Yamaha steps out of the DAW market altogether. The market is shrinking considerably as lots of musicians turn to PC based recording. When I speak for myself I say it's good to stick with a dedicated machine. Some others do, too, so there still will be a market, but much smaller.

I wonder what Yamaha would have come up with otherwise... an AW32G maybe...

I tried PC-based recording and did not like it. I guess I will have to keep this AW1600 running forever. Or maybe buy a spare now ...

I bought a spare G :) The main problem is probably going to be the HD's life span. Most of them quit after about 7 years.

If anyone has a HD that is much older than that and still running, please tell me which brand it is.
